The Foundation is essentially a conduit for community support of EPD in the largest sense.

As a completely volunteer organization, the vast majority of donated funds are applied to EPD requests for equipment, training, wellness and other items that emerge in the course of a year. Less than five percent of Foundation expenditures are applied to administrative items such as postage, printing, accounting, database and website management, and similar items.

Recent important expenditures, in addition to those described elsewhere, have included support of the EPD Cadet program, the Volunteers in Policing program, and important training for SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Teams as well as detectives specializing in crimes against children.
